Healthcare specialist 90TEN showed dedication to evolve and develop with hugely impressive results. The worthy winner, which represents 10 of the top 20 global pharma firms, had its most successful year to date, achieving £5m in fee income – a year-on-year rise of 41 per cent.
During 2017 the agency diversified, reducing its dependency on its biggest client, adding nine significant new clients to its roster and expanding its service offerings. It launched 20SENSES, focused on cause-led campaigning, which brought in four clients worth £500,000 in fee income in its first year; and Design Ink, a studio to bring design services in-house. The agency also separated its PR and medical education services.
It attributed its creative approach and behaviour-change offer to a 75 per cent pitch success rate.
Successful campaigns included ‘Flight HIV101’, promoted through geosocial dating app Grindr, which focused on taking control of the ‘long haul’ of living with HIV; and the ‘Break the flu cycle’ behaviour-change campaign.
In 2017 90TEN also launched its "Life Changing" wellbeing policy. This included enhanced maternity cover and pensions, a £300 clothing allowance and £300 for ‘something life-changing’. Of the leadership team, 64 per cent are women and 18 per cent from an ethnic minority.

Following three years of unprecedented growth 90TEN continued to outperform in the sector with its most successful year to date, despite a challenging sector environment.
2017 was the year of diversification where the company expanded its service offering and team to provide greater depth and breadth of expertise opening up the potential for new growth opportunities.
