David was appointed Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs in April 2017. In this role he has responsibility for Global Corporate Government Affairs & Policy, Global Corporate Media Relations, Corporate Digital Communications, Corporate Responsibility & Reporting and Global Brand & Partnerships. He is a member of the Communications and Government Affairs Leadership Team and sits on the company's Disclosure Committee and the Board level Corporate Responsibility Committee. David joined GSK in 2003 and has held a series of roles of increasing responsibility over that time. Before being appointed Head of External and Market Communications in 2014, David led the Global Media Relations team (2010-14) and Global Investor Relations team (2008-2010). Prior to joining GSK David worked in UK politics, acting as Head of Economic Research for the Conservative Party from 1997 to 1999 and as Chief of Staff to the Shadow Chancellor, the Rt Hon Michael Portillo MP from 2000 to 2001. David holds BA and MA degrees in Modern History & Politics from the University of Sheffield. His research on US economic policy in the 1930s has been published in the Journal of Contemporary History.
