James is a skilled comms pro with broad in-house and agency experience. A mix of digital, PR, and marketing experience allows for a 360 approach to brand strategy and the ability to speak 'marketing', as well as communications. James is currently National Grid's Group Brand Director, with a mandate for brand marketing, digital, employee comms, and integrated campaigning across the group. James recently joined Grid from Edelman, where he was Managing Director of Shell, one of the agency's largest accounts. Prior to Edelman, James ran comms for BAE Systems and Shell Hydrogen, and has held a number of Director agency positions at Burson Cohn & Wolfe and Lexis PR (now Text100), consulting for big brand names, including Starbucks and British Airways. James is most at home developing insight driven, culturally attuned work for political and consumer audiences, and working with businesses who want to change.
