Nesta’s Money Saving Boiler Challenge inspired thousands of UK households to change their boiler settings, saving money and energy at the peak of the cost of living crisis. Developed by an in-house team at Nesta, the UK’s innovation agency for social good, the campaign combined extensive research with innovative digital product design, and a creative communications strategy.

Against the odds of a small starting budget, low consumer profile and fraught media landscape, the campaign inspired more than 214,000 users to turn down their boiler flow temperature - saving around £20m off energy bills and 37,000 tonnes CO2 a year.
