Client: Prostate Cancer UK

Prostate Cancer UK led a national campaign to transform early detection and treatment for the UK’s most commonly diagnosed cancer. Our campaign had two priorities: securing an early detection programme for prostate cancer, and ending the postcode lottery that denied men in England access to the life-saving drug abiraterone. By combining new scientific evidence, the lived experience of men with prostate cancer and sustained political engagement, we built an unanswerable case for change and united policymakers, clinicians and parliamentarians behind practical, evidence-based solutions. We generated new data to challenge existing assumptions, convened leading clinical experts, amplified patient voices in the national media and worked with cross-party MPs and Peers to apply sustained pressure on Government and NHS decision-makers. Through parliamentary debates, media coverage and high-level engagement with ministers and officials, we kept prostate cancer at the top of the policy agenda and pushed the system to act. As a result, the UK National Screening Committee made its first ever recommendation for a targeted prostate cancer screening programme, and NHS England agreed to fund abiraterone for all clinically eligible men. Together, these changes that will save hundreds of lives every year.
