Client: TikTok Shop UK
Britain’s local businesses have been losing the battle for reach for decades. Our farms, cheesemakers and family-run producers make extraordinary things - yet beyond the farmgate or market-stall, they’re often invisible. Online retail should have levelled the field. It didn’t. The brand which changed that wasn’t a government initiative, a rural enterprise fund or a retail giant with a conscience. It was TikTok Shop. Already known for turning products viral overnight and helping businesses scale at speed, TikTok Shop had never channelled that same discovery power towards Britain’s most traditional, hardest-to‑reach producers. TikTok Shop’s discovery‑led commerce model, where shoppers organically find and buy products without leaving the app, meant a farm shop in Sussex could go viral, sell thousands of products, and build a national audience without big budgets or established followings. What it hadn’t yet done was point that same power at Britain’s most traditional, hard-to-reach producers: the three-generation Sheffield tea merchant, the Kent fruit farmer, the Leeds doctor-turned-drinks-maker. And that was because the platform had challenges to overcome. As a newcomer to the online shopping world, there were inherent trust barriers to break. However, what we knew we had in our back pocket was TikTok Shop's most powerful proof-point: economic impact – and that story needed telling through real British businesses, not brand messaging. Our campaign, ‘TikTok FarmShop’ changed the game for British SMBs. It became TikTok Shop’s first fully-integrated UK campaign and proof that TikTok Shop’s emerging ‘discovery commerce’ model could provide a lifeline for struggling businesses.
